In 2016, a young man and his girlfriend were walking to a convenience store in Omaha when a burgundy sedan crept up behind them. The passenger called out: “What’s up?” and the couple responded. Then 7 shots rang out, and the 16-year-old victim fell to the ground. Although the victim’s girlfriend accused our client of committing the murder, detectives were looking at another suspect as recently as last year. Still, our client went to jail and had to endure not one but two murder trials.
Fortunately, our team at McGoughLaw P.C. L.L.O. fought for a not guilty verdict on our client’s behalf. The jury found our client not guilty of murder and gun charges but guilty of witness tampering.
Following the jury’s verdict, our client’s mother tearfully told us that “those 12 jurors made me believe in the justice system again.”
