- Both the United States and Nebraska Constitution mandates that in any criminal prosecution, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense;
- Under Article I-13, the Nebraska Constitution mandates that “All courts shall be open, and every person, for any injury done him other in his or her lands, goods, person, or reputation, shall have a remedy by due course of law and justice administered without denial or delay”;
- As Martin Luther King Jr. stated, “Justice denied anywhere diminishes justice everywhere."

- In these uncertain times, our court remains open. Although the federal courts in Iowa and Nebraska have continued some hearings, reduced hours and set screening conditions to enter, they remain operational.
