Prostitution-Related Charges Result from Undercover Operation

|

All across the nation this summer, a coordinated effort has been underway in multiple municipalities to crack down on human trafficking and related sex crimes. Nebraska law enforcement agencies have also been actively involved in such efforts. Details about exactly how officers go about curbing unwanted behaviors or finding people believed to be involved are not known but the Lincoln Police Department is among those agencies that has been active in this way.

Recent reports indicate that a specific undercover plan put in place by the Lincoln Police Department led to 12 different people being arrested for at least 14 different criminal charges. Four women between the ages of 23 and 36 face prostitution charges. Seven other people have been charged with soliciting prostitutes. These defendants range from 23 years old to 66 years old. For one of the defendants, the charge is a Class IV felony because of a previous conviction on record. Another defendant has also been charged with two drug-related offenses in addition to the solicitation charge. The twelfth person was arrested for pandering.

Reports did not give details about the evidence used to make the arrests or what types of potential penalties are associated with each of the charges. Nationwide, other defendants have had their vehicles seized or impounded, been fined and been charged with multiple misdemeanor and felony offenses for prostitution or other crimes.

After being arrested and accused of a crime in Nebraska, people might find it helpful to talk with an experienced criminal law attorney. This may provide them insight into some options for their defenses.
