Any Nebraska resident who is concerned about criminal drug charges can have good reason for being so. There may be serious long-lasting penalties associated with such offenses. Additionally, there are many different types of drug charges or offenses. A person may be arrested for suspicion of possessing a drug, selling a drug, or something else.
One 35-year-old woman from Lincoln has experienced multiple encounters with the criminal justice system for drug charges as well as assault, impaired driving and other offenses. Ten years ago she served time in a state prison after a drunk driving conviction that also involved an accident and other charges. Just over a year ago, she was released from a two-and-a-half-year period again in state prison. This incarceration was for her fourth drunk driving conviction.
More recently, officers armed with a search warrant discovered a pipe in the woman's possession. Reports indicate that traces of methamphetamine were in the pipe. This led to the woman's arrest for possessoin of meth. She voluntarily pled guilty and was ordered to spend 12 months in jail. It is not known what her potential penalty could have been if she did not enter a guilty plea. Also unknown is what led officers to obtain a search warrant.
